About The Ghillie Girls
The Ghillie Girls series of books and products are for people who are interested in Irish dance. The books are designed to be a fun guide to the wide, wonderful, and weird, world of Irish dance; to explain what Irish dancers do and wear and why. They are also designed to encourage young dancers to value things besides winning medals, like teamwork, sportsmanship, and friendship.
History of The Ghillie Girls
The Ghillie Girls began as a Christmas present for the author's Irish dance friends, the real life Ghillie Girls: Beki (Libby), Kim (Addy), and Jacqui (Keelin). Heidi wanted to give her friends a meaningful present, and as she thought over their adventures together as Irish dancers, the idea for the first The Ghillie Girls book began to
form.
She put the book together in just a couple of weeks, printed a few copies on a color copier and bound them by hand. It was a great hit! Then Heidi had the idea to share the book with others. She spent several months revamping the book to make it more informative and helpful for new dancers. The Ghillie Girls is a lot different than the Christmas presents Heidi gave to her friends, but the basic premise is still the same: Irish dancers make great friends.
